The Kitimat Dementia Home Project
It’s a GO! We are anticipating breaking ground Fall of 2025
NEW Senior’s Housing Project
We have embarked on a new project: housing for seniors. Preliminary work is underway with the COMMUNITY HOUSING NEEDS ASSESSMENT SURVEY – a key component to help us assess the needs of our community so we can build the best possible homes to meet the needs of seniors in our community.

Members of the Kitimat Valley Housing Society and community representatives with Minister of Health, Adrian Dix, and Parliamentary Secretary of Rural Health, Jennifer Rice.
March 25th, 2024 will be a day to remember for the community of Kitimat and Haisla Nation as we had the Minister of Health, Adrian Dix, and Parliamentary Secretary of Rural Health, Jennifer Rice, visit us to make the long-awaited announcement that the green light had been given to Kitimat’s Dementia Home Project. There are many facets to dementia care but the one thing that is proven is that if those afflicted with the disease are cared for in a loving and nurturing environment where independence is encouraged and they participate in day to day activities and are able to continue being involved in their hobby interests just as if they were at home, their quality of life will be greatly improved. Our new home will be the center for this model of care and the staff will be dedicated to supporting our residents in living the best life they can.
